Your Puppy: The Trip Home

Bringing you new puppy home is very exciting, but I know you have lots of questions. Lets go over a few things in advance.

If you are traveling alone, you’ll need a crate to keep the puppy confined on his ride home. If you plan to have someone hold him (which is fine) they may want a blanket or towel for their lap. Bring along plenty of paper towels and wet wipes in case your puppy gets car sick. If the ride is more than a few hours long, be sure to bring along a bottle of water and small bowl for him. If your ride is more than 5 hours, you may want to feed him a small meal, otherwise its best to wait until he is home and settled before feeding.

When stopping for a break, keep in mind your pup has had only one vaccination and is not fully immunized. Keep him away from other animals, as well as areas other animals have visited. He could easily pick up viruses that could be deadly.

I will have a ‘puppy pack’ for you and your new pal. It will contain his vaccination record, health guarantee, and microchip registration info. I will also have a few goodies such as toy that smells like mom, a few treats and a sample of the food he has been eating.
