HORSES
Tannin Border Collies
Sam was my first Tennessee Walking Horse.
He has perfect ground manners and loves treats and follows me around the barnyard like a big dog, he hardly needs to be tied anymore :-)

Sam now lives back at Double J Ranch with Jeannie and John.
He is still being ridden often at the age of 23. He has become a babysitter and teacher for some of their young colts

Sam and I went on our first week long trail ride on Shawnee Nat. Forest in June of 06 , we had a great time, it was my first experience in group ridding and I loved it.

At the time of our Shawnee trip, Sam was receiving Natural Hoof Care (no shoes) from our friend Ida Hammer at http://www.mackinawdells2.com

His feet held up very well with only EazyBoots on the front, and barefoot on the back. A few chips on the back, no cracks or splits!!

Another word about Natural hoof care: Last year (2007), my ferrier Ida was severely injured by a kick in the head (not MY horse :-)and off work for several weeks. Thankfully she is recovering and back to work, but was unable to trim my horses for a long time, they were weeks and weeks overdue. I did not want to risk having a regular ferrier trim out the sole which has taken all year to establish, so I waited for Ida.

When Ida was finally ready to trim, my horses feet were still in excellent condition, other than being a little too long. Not a chip, crack or split on either of them, nice strong tight hooves with a nice rounded edge!!!

Life is short, ride your good horse first!!
We are currently having quite and argument about just who's horse this is. I bought him for my son, but have fallen for him myself!!

One of my favorite activities has become ridding Willy bareback in the evenings just as the sun is going down. What a peaceful way to end a day.

Willy is a 20 year old Fox Trotter.

Nope, not for sale, not ever!!
Brenda (TanninToo)
and Buttons came for a visit in mid October ('07). We had a beautiful and peaceful ride along the Henepin Canal, then we even rode into town for a quick stop at the local Casey's.

I love this little town. We rode right through the streets, stopped off to watch a game of 'Rolly-bowly' and even visited Mike at State Street Winery, all without getting off the horses!!

Warm friends on a cold day.

October 2008, I finaly got the chance to ride Buttons myself on a group trail ride in Tenessee IL.
He took great care of me, even on the most terrifing hill (both up and down) I have ever seen anyone ride a horse on!!!
ALWAYS TRUST YOUR HORSE!!
